Okay, so there’s a very cool skyscraper complete with observation deck in the heart of France’s capital which has amazing panoramic views letting you take in all the sights, from the Eiffel Tower to Notre Dame, with everything inbetween!
I’d just like to make it clear though that I’m not too fond of Paris (more on that in a future post). I can definitely see why some people would fall in love with the city, but it’s really not one of my favourite places.
Back to Montparnasse Tower though…
To get access to the observation deck, which presides a little over 200 metres above Paris, it’ll cost 15 euros (or 12 euros with student discount). There’s also a scarily fast lift to take you to the observation area straight from the ground floor.
The best time to go is the late evening, so you can absorb the city in the remnants of the day, and then watch as the Eiffel Tower sparks to life with a dazzling light show.
In the opposite direction to the Eiffel Tower is Notre Dame. I can’t emphasise enough how much of a beautiful structure Notre Dame is. I also can’t stress enough how much of a church nerd I am! Most people want to see the Tower as soon as they get to Paris, but I was frothing at the mouth to see the iconic cathedral.
Side note: I’ve never actually watched the Hunchback of Notre Dame, and I feel I should be judged for it.
Lying down in the middle of the expansive observation deck as the sun sets is also a pretty amazing experience. And as you’re on top of the roof of a 59-floor tower, the lighting is damn good too which is great news for your selfie game.
I might not love Paris, but I suppose it’s not all bad.
